Vanessa Folkes, BSN, RN
​Aesthetic Nurse & Practice Manager
Vanessa is a Registered Nurse with over five years of experience in aesthetic medicine, specializing in laser hair removal and evidence-based treatments. Her approach is grounded in clinical precision, safety, and a commitment to thoughtful, patient-centered care.
Before specializing in aesthetics, Vanessa built a strong clinical foundation across nearly two decades in healthcare, beginning in medical office roles and advancing into bedside nursing and hospice care. As a hospice nurse and case manager, she developed strong skills in assessment, communication, and individualized care - principles that continue to guide her practice.
As the practice manager and the sole aesthetic provider, her goal is to create an environment where care is not rushed and treatments are delivered with clarity and intention. She focuses on transparency, consistency, and long-term skin health, ensuring each treatment is tailored to the individual.
Dr. Reuben Lakshmanan, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Reuben Lakshmanan, better known as Dr. Reuben by those whom he serves, is a Board-Certified
Emergency Medicine physician. In 2014, he graduated from Loma Linda University, School of Medicine and went on to complete a challenging Emergency Medicine residency program at the University of Arizona, South Campus in 2017.

Since that time, Dr. Reuben has worked primarily in Emergency Medicine departments in southern California as well as served our country’s veterans as a disability examiner. A deep interest in healing on multiple levels gave way to a desire to explore restorative and patient-centered care outside of the Emergency Departments, and ultimately to a rewarding career in Aesthetics. Dr. Reuben is focused on helping you safely meet your personal goals while working alongside our committed team.
Why "Bare" Skin + Wellness?
Bare Skin + Wellness is named in honor of Bear, Vanessa's dog of nearly sixteen years. She came into her life as an orphaned puppy and remained by her side through the years that shaped who she is today. The name is a personal tribute and reflects the values that guided the creation of this brand. That perspective continues to influence how this space was thoughtfully brought to life.
